On November 25th, the international Day for the elimination of violence against women is observed
The ISMU Foundation ETS, which strongly condemns all forms of violence, is actively engaged in important work as part of the IAPHP (Intercultural Approach to Prevent Harmful Practices) project. This initiative, launched in March 2023, is part of the European CERV-DAPHNE program.
Harmful practices, such as female genital mutilation, violence and honor-related crimes, and child and/or forced marriages, are severe violations of human rights. These behaviors, often associated with extreme forms of violence, are rooted in gender or age-based discrimination and cause significant physical, emotional, and psychological harm. The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul, 05/11/2011) recognizes such acts as “Violence against Women.”
The IAPHP project aims to provide intercultural training on the prevention of harmful practices, targeting professionals working in this field. Furthermore, it seeks to raise awareness and inform migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking women, helping them identify and prevent these practices while ensuring they receive timely and professional support.
