MIGRASTAT

Support Service for Monitoring the National Integration Plan and for an Experimental Survey of Migratory Realities Not Covered by Traditional Surveys on the National Territory

Through a field survey

the project aims, on the one hand, to monitor the progress of the activities promoted by the National Integration Plan and, on the other, to investigate specific phenomena within the migration process that cannot be addressed through the analysis of traditional survey data, with particular attention to the integration process of beneficiaries of international protection

the objectives

The project aims

^

To meet the need for knowledge of the migration phenomenon through surveys capable of integrating the information deducible from available administrative data, thus outlining a complete picture of the living conditions of foreigners in Italy and their level of integration

^

To monitor significant experiences present in different territories, with particular attention to the implementation of the National Integration Plan for Beneficiaries of International Protection

^

To broaden understanding of the migration phenomenon with regard to individuals who are administratively excluded from traditional surveys, by examining in depth the universe of foreigners present in the country and not only those who are regular (through comparison of the main characteristics of the migration phenomenon and the integration process among regular residents, regular non-residents, and irregular migrants)

^

To support the dissemination of accurate information on migration

The activities

The project entails two parallel lines
of research

On the one hand, it monitors the implementation of the National Integration Plan through a questionnaire administered to Prefectures and Territorial Immigration Councils, which records the state of implementation using a benchmarking approach and maps local best practices; on the other hand, through a second questionnaire administered to the same entities, it collects information related to the integration of beneficiaries of international protection in four areas: housing, employment and vocational training, access to social and health services, and knowledge of Italian as a second language (L2) and civic education. The project includes a pilot research phase in four regions (Lombardy, Tuscany, Campania, and Sicily) and an extensive phase covering the entire national territory for two years of research.

At the conclusion of each data collection cycle, the project provides for reporting activities (National Report and Regional Reports) and dissemination activities at both national and local levels.
