The Health section investigates and analyzes the major problems emerging in the relation between immigration and health through an interdisciplinary approach.

Particular attention is consecrated to the analysis of foreigners' hospitalizations in Lombardy through an analysis of the data concerning birth points and hospital discharges.

In 1999, Fondazione ISMU signed an agreement with Società Italiana di Pediatria (Sip/GLNBI Gruppo di lavoro nazionale sul bambino immigrato) (the Italian Society of Paediatrics – National Work Team on Immigrant Children), which allowed, through the direct involvement of 50 Italian paediatric centres, creating a Databank, and started periodical seminars aimed at discussing research results and at monitoring the immigrants' actual health requirements.
